Hampartsoum Celebration – May 14, 2026
Dear St. Mary Parishioners and Friends,
The St. Mary Ladies Society warmly invites all of us to a joyful celebration of "Hampartsoum" – The Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What is Hampartsoum?
Hampartsoum is the traditional Armenian name for this major feast day, observed 40 days after Easter. It commemorates the moment when our Lord Jesus Christ ascended bodily into heaven in the presence of His disciples — completing His earthly ministry, taking His place at the right hand of the Father, and giving us the promise of the Holy Spirit and our own future resurrection.
In Armenian culture, it is also a beloved day of springtime renewal, hope, and community rejoicing, traditionally marked with fortune-telling customs (symbolizing the "opening of the heavens") and joyful gatherings.
